In my blog on Esther Bouma, who was the queen of health sector coordination here in Mozambique, I gave some background information on what coordinating donor and development partner inputs to health in Mozambique involves. I also lamented the fact that Esther was leaving Mozambique for a job in South Africa.
Having felt bereft at loosing Esther last year, I thought I would never find someone as efficient to fill her shoes. Well, I was wrong. I would like to introduce you to Etelvina Mahanjane, who started working with DFID late last year and is really shaping up as the new health sector coordinator.
Etelvina, a Mozambican who previously worked with VSO here in Mozambique, is as sharp as a razor, extremely well organised and has got to grips with the ins and outs of the sector in next to no time. I have attached a picture of Etelvina – and no doubt will provide more details of our joint work in future updates on DFID’s work here.
